Open a lot
Define the work area, then separate brush, trees and below-ground work.
What stays: Keeper trees stay. Roots and debris handling must be specified; an open lot is not automatically a building pad.

Hernando here is the Citrus County community — not Hernando County further north — and that distinction matters before you scope any clearing work. Florida Land Clearing Co provides lot clearing, forestry mulching, and brush and underbrush clearing on parcels in this area. If you have an overgrown property or need vehicle access cut through dense growth, a written scope starts with knowing exactly which parcel and jurisdiction you are working in.
Choose the finish, not just the machine

Read the lot clearing details →Grind suitable standing brush and smaller woody growth in place.
What stays: A layer of mulch and the root systems normally remain. Grubbing and haul-off are separate work.
Read the forestry mulching details →Remove selected low growth around marked trees and agreed access lines.
What stays: The chosen canopy stays. Cut material is mulched or collected according to the written scope.

Citrus County contains a community called Hernando, distinct from Hernando County to the south. If you search clearing services without that qualifier, you will find results aimed at an entirely different place. When you contact us, confirm your parcel address and its governing jurisdiction — Citrus County, a municipality, or a special district — because clearing rules, permit checkpoints, and any applicable tree-removal processes are attached to the actual parcel, not just a mailing address or a ZIP code. That one clarification keeps your project on the right footing before any equipment arrives. See the Citrus County service area for context.
Lot clearing, forestry mulching, and brush clearing are related but they produce different ground conditions, and choosing the wrong one adds work later. Lot clearing aims to open a defined boundary from edge to edge, removing or processing what is inside the scope line. Forestry mulching grinds standing vegetation into material that stays on the surface; roots generally remain below grade. Brush clearing targets dense low growth and can use cutting or mulching depending on stem size and what the owner wants to do with the surface afterward. Tell us your intended land use and we scope to that finish, not a generic default.
Forestry mulching processes above-ground vegetation — stems, limbs, and brush — and returns the ground-up material to the surface. It does not extract stumps or pull root systems from the soil. Larger stumps and significant root masses are a separate conversation; they require a separately scoped approach, and we will note them in your written estimate rather than assume they are included. If your intended use requires a different surface condition — bare mineral soil, for example — say that upfront so we can quote the right combination of work, not just the mulching portion. Check our pricing page for how we structure estimates.
Compare the three clearing options →Every clearing scope needs a defined work area. Trees, shrubs, or specimen plants you want preserved must be identified before work begins, not after. If a neighbor's property line is unclear, or a drainage feature runs through the parcel, those boundaries shape the scope in ways that affect time and cost. We do not make engineering or surveying determinations, but we do ask the right questions: Where does your property end? Are there features — a fence line, a ditch, a power easement — that mark the edge of the clearing zone? Those answers protect your property and ours.
Citrus County publishes a non-residential tree removal application checklist through its Growth Management office. That document is a starting point for understanding what county staff may review — it is not a final determination for your specific parcel, and a county resource does not automatically govern parcels inside a municipality or special district. Confirm with the relevant authority whether your clearing plan requires a permit, tree replacement, or any pre-work inspection. We do not pull permits on your behalf, but we will give you a clear scope so you have accurate information when you ask the right office the right questions.
As an example only — not a past project or typical condition: imagine a Citrus County owner who wants vehicle access cut through roughly two acres of overgrown brush and small-diameter trees to reach a back corner of the parcel. They want the path passable but do not need the whole parcel cleared. In that case, the written scope would define the corridor width, identify any larger trees to preserve or remove separately, note any stumps that fall outside a mulching pass, and price the access work as a defined line item. That kind of specific request gets you a useful estimate rather than a rough guess.
Request a property estimate →How material leaves — or stays on — your property is part of the scope decision. Mulched material processed in place reduces hauling cost but changes the surface texture. Cut brush that is chipped or piled for removal is a separate line item. We do not promise construction-ready ground, load-bearing surfaces, or permanent vegetation control as default outcomes of any clearing service. If your next step is a building permit, a grading contractor, or a septic evaluation, those professionals will have their own surface requirements, and we can describe what our work leaves so you can coordinate accurately. See the Tampa Bay region page for broader service context.
Forestry mulching carries a project minimum of $1,200; lot clearing, brush clearing, and any stump or root work are quoted separately based on your specific parcel, access conditions, stem density, and haul requirements. Mobilization is not silently included. When you request an estimate, tell us the parcel address, your intended land use, any structures or features near the clearing zone, and whether access to the site is already open. That information lets us give you a written scope with line items — not a single lump number that hides what is and is not covered. Get a clearing estimate to start the process.

Questions from property owners
They are separate places with separate governing authorities. Citrus County Growth Management applies to parcels in this Hernando community; Hernando County has its own rules entirely. Confirming your parcel's actual jurisdiction — not just the community name — determines which permit process, if any, applies before clearing begins. Always verify with the relevant county or municipal office.
Not typically. Forestry mulching grinds above-ground stems and brush into surface material; root systems and established stumps generally stay in place below grade. Stump and root treatment is a separate scope item. If your property has significant stumps, mention that when you request your estimate so we can address it as a distinct line item.
At minimum: the parcel address, an idea of acreage or the area you want cleared, your intended use for the land, any features you want to preserve, and whether vehicle access to the site is already available. The more specific your request, the more accurate and useful your written scope will be before any work is scheduled.
Not necessarily. A county resource is a starting point; your parcel may fall inside a municipality or special district with different or additional requirements. Confirm the actual governing authority for your specific address before assuming county-level rules apply. We provide a clear scope; the permitting determination belongs to the relevant local office.
