Open a lot
Define the work area, then separate brush, trees and below-ground work.
What stays: Keeper trees stay. Roots and debris handling must be specified; an open lot is not automatically a building pad.

Your parcel in Lecanto may sit in Citrus County's unincorporated area, which means county rules apply rather than city ordinances — but confirm your actual jurisdiction before any work begins. Whether you're dealing with overgrown brush along the edges, thick pockets of hardwood and palmettos in the middle, or open ground that just needs a clean finish, we scope each treatment zone separately so you only pay for the clearing your property actually needs.
Choose the finish, not just the machine

What stays: A layer of mulch and the root systems normally remain. Grubbing and haul-off are separate work.

Lot clearing targets a defined area and leaves it open — woody material removed or reduced, the surface accessible and visible. Forestry mulching processes standing vegetation and brush into a layer of mulched material left on site, with root systems remaining below ground. Brush and underbrush clearing focuses on low growth and dense tangles; it can be done by cutting or by mulching depending on what the site and the desired result call for. Each option produces a distinct finish, and knowing which finish you want shapes the written scope we put together for your property.
Not every parcel clears the same way across its full footprint. Open ground that just needs access is a different job from a thick pocket of shrubs and small-diameter trees packed into one corner. When your property has both conditions, we identify each distinct zone and price it accordingly. That separation prevents you from paying dense-clearing rates on sections that don't need that level of work. A clear boundary between treatment areas starts with a walkthrough, not an assumption, and it's reflected directly in the written scope before we move equipment.
The work boundary tells us exactly where clearing starts and stops on your parcel. It protects trees or vegetation you want to keep, it keeps us off neighboring property, and it defines what we're pricing. We ask you to identify anything that stays before we write the scope — a row of mature oaks, a planted hedge, a setback from a drainage channel. What you mark as off-limits stays off-limits. If property lines aren't clearly visible on the ground, having a current survey in hand helps both parties before work begins.
Compare the three clearing options →Forestry mulching leaves processed material on the surface where it was ground. That's intentional — it's part of what the method produces, and hauling is not automatically included. For lot clearing that involves cut trees, limbs or brush, we scope removal or on-site reduction separately; neither is silently bundled into a base price. Larger wood, stumps and root mass are a separate line. We don't promise a debris-free surface without scoping it, and we don't promise construction-ready ground as a standard clearing outcome. What we deliver matches what the written scope describes.
Forestry mulching processes above-ground vegetation. Roots stay in the ground. If your plans require stump removal or below-grade root work, that's a separate scope item and a separate cost — we don't fold it into mulching without your explicit direction. Larger-diameter wood that a mulching head isn't suited to handle may need to be felled and managed differently, and we'll note that during the estimate. Don't assume any clearing method automatically eliminates stumps or prepares ground for construction-grade load bearing. Ask directly, and we'll tell you what the work does and doesn't include.
Because Lecanto is a mailing address rather than an incorporated city, your parcel most likely falls under Citrus County's jurisdiction — but parcel location, not a mailing name, determines applicable rules. Citrus County's Growth Management department publishes a non-residential tree removal application checklist as a starting point; residential and commercial parcels may follow different processes. Confirm your parcel's specific requirements with the county before clearing begins. We don't interpret permit applications for you, but we can tell you what scope we're planning so you have accurate information when you make contact with the county. See Citrus County clearing services for regional context.
Request a property estimate →For forestry mulching, the project minimum is $1,200. Other clearing work is quoted separately based on acreage, vegetation density, site access, and what the scope requires for material handling. Mobilization is not automatically included in any base rate. A parcel with easy road access, uniform brush and no haul-out requirement will price differently than one with limited entry, mixed-density zones and debris removal. The clearest way to get an accurate number is a written estimate that reflects your actual property — not a per-acre guess over the phone. Visit our pricing page for general rate context.
The estimate process starts with what you want the property to look like when we're done and where the work stops. From there we identify treatment zones, note anything that stays, and write a scope that reflects both. A hypothetical example: an owner with a two-acre parcel — one open acre needing only light brush work and one thick-palmetto acre requiring full mulching — would see two separate line items priced at their actual treatment level, not a single blended rate across both acres. That's the kind of specificity we aim for. Use the form on this page or visit our Tampa Bay region page to get a clearing estimate for your Lecanto property.

Questions from property owners
Yes. Before we finalize any scope, we ask you to identify what stays — specific trees, planted areas, setbacks or sections you want left alone. Those exclusions go into the written scope as defined boundaries. We price and work only within the agreed treatment areas. Anything outside that boundary is off-limits, and the estimate reflects that separation clearly.
No. Forestry mulching processes above-ground vegetation and leaves root systems in place below grade. Stumps are not eliminated by mulching. If stump removal or below-grade root work is part of your plan, that's a separate scope item with its own cost. We'll note any stump situations we see during the estimate walkthrough so there are no surprises.
Citrus County has a published tree removal application process that serves as a starting point, but applicable requirements depend on your parcel's specific location, land use and whether the project is residential or commercial. We don't interpret permit requirements for individual parcels. Confirm directly with Citrus County Growth Management before scheduling any clearing work on your property.
Not automatically. Forestry mulching leaves processed material on site by default. Lot clearing and brush clearing estimates specify material handling as a separate line when haul-out is requested. Mobilization is also quoted separately. Your written scope will state exactly what's included so there's no ambiguity about what the agreed price covers on your property.
