Open a lot
Define the work area, then separate brush, trees and below-ground work.
What stays: Keeper trees stay. Roots and debris handling must be specified; an open lot is not automatically a building pad.

Florida Land Clearing Co works with property owners in Ridge Manor and across Hernando County who need overgrown land brought under control. Whether your goal is a defined entrance, a cleared building footprint or better access across a wooded parcel, the right clearing approach depends on what finish you need afterward. We scope the work in writing before anything is cut, so you know exactly what you are asking for.
Choose the finish, not just the machine

What stays: Keeper trees stay. Roots and debris handling must be specified; an open lot is not automatically a building pad.

What stays: A layer of mulch and the root systems normally remain. Grubbing and haul-off are separate work.

What stays: The chosen canopy stays. Cut material is mulched or collected according to the written scope.

Lot clearing, forestry mulching and brush and underbrush clearing are related services with different intended results. Lot clearing typically addresses a defined parcel boundary down to a requested surface condition. Forestry mulching processes standing vegetation above ground and distributes material across the surface. Brush clearing targets undergrowth and smaller stems, and it can be accomplished by cutting, mulching or a combination depending on what the site calls for. Before we price anything, we identify which finish you actually need.
The most useful thing you can bring to an estimate conversation is a clear boundary. Which area gets cleared completely, which trees stay, and where does the edge stop? On a wooded Ridge Manor parcel, that distinction drives the entire quote. A lot clearing scope that protects a line of mature trees along one edge is different work than a full clearing to the property corners. We mark what stays before any machine moves, and those trees or areas are documented in the written scope so there is no ambiguity on the day of work.
Some owners want access cleared across a wooded lot before they commit to a permanent driveway width or alignment. That is a reasonable sequence. We can scope a visibility and access pass at a working width, leaving the final grading and edge treatment to a later phase once you have confirmed the route. That initial pass is quoted separately from any permanent driveway prep. Nothing about an access pass guarantees construction-ready ground or engineered drainage; it simply opens the route so you can evaluate it on foot before deciding next steps.
Compare the three clearing options →Forestry mulching processes above-ground vegetation and returns the material to the surface as ground cover. It is not grubbing, and it does not extract stumps or pull root systems below grade. After a mulching pass, existing root masses remain in place and decay on their own timeline. If your planned use requires roots removed or a graded surface, that is separately scoped work involving different equipment and a different quoted price. We will tell you clearly which approach fits your intended use rather than upsell you on a pass that does not accomplish your goal. See the forestry mulching page for more detail.
Stumps and significant root masses left after clearing are a separate line item. Grinding depth, equipment and the number of stumps involved all affect what that scope looks like. We do not bundle stump work silently into a clearing quote and we do not promise a fixed grinding depth without first reviewing the site. Hauling, disposal of larger timber and any grading are also quoted individually. When you receive a written estimate from us, each element is listed so you can approve or defer specific portions without losing the rest of the scope.
Here is an example to illustrate how a scope might be structured — this is not a past project. Suppose you own a wooded parcel and want a proposed entrance cut through a stand of pines, keeping three large oaks near the road. The scope would identify a defined clearing corridor, mark the oaks as protected, apply forestry mulching to the vegetation within that corridor and leave the root systems in place. A separate line item would address stump grinding within the corridor if the planned use requires it. Everything outside the corridor boundary stays untouched.
Request a property estimate →Ridge Manor uses a Hernando County mailing address, but the applicable rules for your specific parcel depend on its recorded jurisdiction and current zoning, not the mailing name alone. Hernando County's permitting resources are a starting point for understanding what may apply, but confirming the actual process for your parcel is your responsibility before work begins. We do not interpret permits on your behalf, and a county link is not a guarantee that county rules, rather than another authority, govern your land. Verify with the relevant office before scheduling.
The forestry mulching project minimum is $1,200; all other clearing work is quoted separately based on the defined scope. Factors that move the price include the size of the clearing area, stem density, what material needs to leave the site versus stay as mulch, whether stump work is included and site access conditions. Mobilization is not silently folded into base pricing. We provide a written scope before work starts so you can review each item. To get a clearing estimate for your Ridge Manor parcel, reach out through the form on this page. We also serve the broader Tampa Bay region.

Questions from property owners
Yes. We can scope a working access pass at a preliminary width so you can evaluate the alignment on foot before committing to a permanent driveway. That pass is quoted as its own scope item. It does not include grading, drainage or construction prep unless those are added as separate line items after you confirm the route.
Processed vegetation is distributed across the cleared surface as mulch. It stays on site unless hauling and disposal are added to the scope. Root systems below grade remain in place and are not extracted during a mulching pass. If your planned use requires roots removed, that work is scoped and priced separately from the mulching itself.
Before any machine moves, we mark the trees or areas you want protected and document them in the written scope. The clearing boundary stops at those marks. We do not apply a universal buffer radius as a rule; the boundary is defined by what you identify and what the equipment can practically respect given site conditions.
It depends on your specific parcel's jurisdiction, zoning and intended use. Hernando County's permitting office is a reasonable starting point, but a mailing address does not confirm which authority applies. We recommend verifying permit requirements directly with the relevant local office before scheduling any clearing work on your property.
