What stays: Keeper trees stay. Roots and debris handling must be specified; an open lot is not automatically a building pad.

Weeki Wachee is an unincorporated community in Hernando County after the municipality was dissolved under 2020 Florida legislation. If you own a parcel here that's overgrown, lacks access or has a future use in mind, we can scope the right clearing work for your property. Whether you need full lot clearing, selective forestry mulching or targeted brush clearing, the finish you want drives what we quote and how we set the work boundary.
Choose the finish, not just the machine
Compare all three below. Choose one to carry that service into your estimate request.
Define the work area, then separate brush, trees and below-ground work.
What stays: Keeper trees stay. Roots and debris handling must be specified; an open lot is not automatically a building pad.
Read the lot clearing details →Grind suitable standing brush and smaller woody growth in place.
What stays: A layer of mulch and the root systems normally remain. Grubbing and haul-off are separate work.
Read the forestry mulching details →Remove selected low growth around marked trees and agreed access lines.
What stays: The chosen canopy stays. Cut material is mulched or collected according to the written scope.

These three services share equipment and a crew but they produce different finishes. Lot clearing removes most above-ground vegetation and typically accounts for the resulting debris through hauling, chipping or on-site processing. Forestry mulching grinds standing vegetation in place and leaves a layer of processed material on the surface with roots remaining below ground. Brush and underbrush clearing targets specific growth while leaving selected trees or areas untouched. Each has a place depending on what you want the property to look like when we leave.
A common starting point on an overgrown parcel in this area is creating a usable entry path before tackling the rest. We define the access corridor with you, identify what stays on either side and work within that agreed boundary. Access work can use cutting, mulching or a combination depending on stem size and how clean you need the corridor to be. Once access exists, you can assess the rest of the property and decide whether a second phase of work makes sense. We quote access and interior clearing separately so you control what gets done.
Before any equipment moves, we walk the work boundary with you and agree on what stays. That might mean flagging specimen trees, leaving a buffer along a fence line or stopping short of a low area you can't confirm is dry. We write the boundary into your scope so there's no ambiguity on the day of work. Forestry mulching processes suitable above-ground vegetation; it is not a method for stump extraction or root removal. If your project requires stump grinding or root grubbing, that work is scoped and quoted separately from the mulching phase.
Compare the three clearing options →How material is handled affects both cost and the finished surface. Forestry mulching leaves processed organic material on the ground — that is the intended result of the method, not a byproduct to be removed. Lot clearing typically involves hauling debris off site or chipping to a managed pile; disposal and hauling are not silently included in a base quote. Larger wood, stumps and root masses are a separate discussion. We will tell you plainly what our quoted scope addresses and what it does not, so you are not surprised by remaining material after we finish.
Because Weeki Wachee no longer operates as an active municipality, Hernando County is the relevant starting point for permits and land-use questions. Hernando County's permits and licenses page is a reasonable first stop, and the 2020 dissolution legislation is context for why no city authority applies. County resources are a starting point, not a parcel-specific ruling. A mailing address is not proof of your exact regulatory boundary. Confirm the applicable process for your parcel directly with the county before clearing work begins. We work within whatever process applies; we do not navigate permitting on your behalf. See also our Hernando County service page.
This is an example only, not a past project or a typical condition. Suppose an owner has a roughly rectangular parcel with a shared fence line on two sides, a stand of mixed scrubby growth in the interior and no usable entry from the road. A written scope might define a 12-foot access corridor from the road edge to the interior, then selective forestry mulching of the open interior area with flagged trees remaining, with the fence-line buffer excluded entirely. Larger stumps in the interior would be noted but quoted separately. The owner reviews the scope before any work is authorized.
Request a property estimate →Clearing cost depends on parcel size, vegetation density, what the finish needs to be and how material is handled after the work. Access conditions affect mobilization, which is not included in a base per-acre or per-project figure. Our forestry mulching work carries a project minimum of $1,200; other services are individually quoted. Hauling, disposal, stump work, grading and any required permits are separate line items when they apply. See our pricing page for more on how we build a quote, then request a written scope for your specific parcel.
A useful estimate starts with your parcel's address or tax ID, a description of what you want cleared and what you want left, and any known access or boundary constraints. If you have a survey, a county property appraiser printout or any HOA restrictions, share those when you reach out — they shape the scope. We serve parcels across Hernando County and the broader Tampa Bay region. Use the estimate form to start the conversation, and we will follow up with questions specific to your property before we put anything in writing.

Questions from property owners
No. Forestry mulching processes above-ground vegetation and leaves a layer of mulched material on the surface. Below-ground roots stay in place. If your project requires stump grinding or root removal, that work is a separate scope item. We will identify any significant stumps during the estimate process and quote that work distinctly so you know what the mulching phase covers.
Because the municipality was dissolved under 2020 Florida legislation, Hernando County is the relevant starting authority for your parcel. Use the county permits and licenses page as a first step. Your specific parcel's zoning, jurisdiction and required process should be confirmed directly with the county before work begins — a mailing address alone does not establish the applicable rules.
Bring the parcel address or tax ID, a description of what you want cleared and what must stay, any known easements or buffer requirements and current access conditions. A county property appraiser record or survey helps us understand the boundary. HOA restrictions, if any, matter too. The more clearly you can describe the intended finish, the more accurate the written scope we can provide.
Not automatically. Forestry mulching leaves processed material on site by design. Lot clearing and brush work may involve hauling, but disposal and transport are separate line items when they apply. Mobilization, grading, root work and permit costs are also not silently bundled. Your written scope will list what each line item covers so there are no post-work surprises.
