Define the work area, then separate brush, trees and below-ground work.
What stays: Keeper trees stay. Roots and debris handling must be specified; an open lot is not automatically a building pad.

Florida Land Clearing Co clears land, lots, brush and overgrown areas for property owners in Williston and across Levy County. Whether you need a defined fence line opened up, a tangled open area reduced, or a clean surface to work from, the right clearing method depends on what you need left behind when we finish. Here is what to know before you request a written scope.
Choose the finish, not just the machine

Define the work area, then separate brush, trees and below-ground work.
What stays: Keeper trees stay. Roots and debris handling must be specified; an open lot is not automatically a building pad.
Read the lot clearing details →Grind suitable standing brush and smaller woody growth in place.
What stays: A layer of mulch and the root systems normally remain. Grubbing and haul-off are separate work.
Read the forestry mulching details →Remove selected low growth around marked trees and agreed access lines.
What stays: The chosen canopy stays. Cut material is mulched or collected according to the written scope.

Lot clearing, forestry mulching and brush and underbrush clearing are related services with different intended finishes. Lot clearing typically removes above-ground material from a defined area and may involve separate handling of stumps and root systems. Forestry mulching grinds standing vegetation and deposits processed material on the surface; roots generally stay in the ground. Brush clearing can use cutting, grinding or a combination depending on density and what you want the surface to look like afterward. Each method produces a different result, and your intended use drives the choice.
Before any equipment moves, we need to know exactly where clearing starts and stops. On a property with mixed vegetation, that boundary is not always obvious from the road or a satellite image. We will ask you to walk the line with us or provide survey pins, property records or flagging that marks what stays and what goes. Trees you want to keep, fence posts, drainage paths and neighboring vegetation all factor into where we set the work boundary. A clear boundary keeps the scope honest and protects what you did not intend to remove.
As an example only — not a past project or typical condition — imagine an owner who needs a grown-over fence line cut back so a gate can be reached, plus a separate brushy open area reduced to a more manageable surface. Those are two distinct scopes: the fence-line access work may call for targeted cutting and hand removal close to posts, while the open area might be a candidate for forestry mulching if above-ground vegetation is the main issue. Roots, stumps and any larger wood left on the ground would be scoped separately after we assess the site.
Compare the three clearing options →Forestry mulching processes above-ground stems, brush and smaller trees and returns the material to the surface as mulch. It is efficient on overgrown acreage where the goal is a cleared, accessible surface. What it does not do: it does not extract stumps, pull root systems or prepare ground for a slab or a compacted fill. If your intended use requires a ground surface free of root mass or large-wood remnants, additional grubbing or stump work would need to be scoped separately. We will tell you that plainly before work starts.
Equipment access to your parcel shapes what is practical on a given visit. If the entry point is narrow, soft or blocked, that affects which machines can reach the work area and how efficiently the job runs. Larger-diameter wood and extensive root systems left after mulching or cutting are a separate conversation. We do not silently include stump grinding, below-grade root removal or hauling in a mulching quote. If those items matter for your intended use, raise them during the estimate so we can scope them explicitly rather than discover the gap after clearing is done.
Parcels in the Williston area may fall under Levy County jurisdiction, the City of Williston, or another authority depending on the actual parcel location — a mailing address alone does not confirm municipal limits. Levy County Development Services is a reasonable starting point for county-level questions about clearing activity on your parcel, but confirm which authority applies to your specific property before assuming any rule. We do not interpret permit requirements for you, but we can tell you what work we are proposing so you have a clear description to bring to the right office.
Request a property estimate →The finish surface after clearing depends on the method chosen and what we agreed to remove. Forestry mulching leaves processed organic material distributed across the cleared area — not bare mineral soil. Cutting and removal leaves a cleaner surface but may still leave root crowns and low stumps. If you are asking whether a mulched finish is suitable for a specific future use, that is the right question to raise before work begins, not after. We will describe the likely finish honestly based on existing vegetation, and note where additional work would be needed to reach a different result.
Clearing costs vary based on acreage, vegetation density, access conditions and which services are included in scope. Our pricing page provides general context, and forestry mulching projects carry a minimum of $1,200; other services are quoted individually. Mobilization, hauling, root or stump work, grading and any permit-related costs are not silently included in a mulching quote. The most useful step is a written estimate that lists exactly what we will do, where, and what the result will look like. Questions from property owners
Forestry mulching clears above-ground vegetation and leaves processed material on the surface with roots remaining in the ground. Whether that result meets your needs for a particular use depends on what that use actually requires. If a bare, level or root-free surface is necessary, mulching alone will not get you there. Additional grubbing, grading or removal work would need to be scoped separately.
No. Brush clearing can involve cutting, grinding or a combination of methods depending on the density of growth, the size of material and the finish you need. We choose the approach based on site conditions and your intended result, not a single universal attachment. The method affects both the finish surface and what remains after the work is done.
Yes, targeted access work along a fence line is something we can scope. It typically involves cutting or removing vegetation close to posts and along a defined corridor rather than clearing a broad open area. Because work near existing structures requires care, we will confirm the exact boundary, what stays near the fence, and how material will be handled before we start.
A useful estimate starts with the parcel location, approximate acreage of the area to be cleared, what you want the finish to look like, any access constraints and what is to remain untouched. Photos help but are not required. The more clearly you can describe the intended result, the more specific and useful the written scope we can return to you will be.
