Open a lot
Define the work area, then separate brush, trees and below-ground work.
What stays: Keeper trees stay. Roots and debris handling must be specified; an open lot is not automatically a building pad.

Florida Land Clearing Co works with property owners in Palm City and the surrounding Martin County area on land clearing, lot clearing, forestry mulching and brush clearing. Before we schedule anything, we want to know what you're starting with, where the work stops, and what you'd like to keep standing. That conversation shapes a written scope you can actually review before any equipment arrives on your property.
Choose the finish, not just the machine
Compare all three below. Choose one to carry that service into your estimate request.
Define the work area, then separate brush, trees and below-ground work.
What stays: Keeper trees stay. Roots and debris handling must be specified; an open lot is not automatically a building pad.
Read the lot clearing details →Grind suitable standing brush and smaller woody growth in place.
What stays: A layer of mulch and the root systems normally remain. Grubbing and haul-off are separate work.
Read the forestry mulching details →Remove selected low growth around marked trees and agreed access lines.
What stays: The chosen canopy stays. Cut material is mulched or collected according to the written scope.

Lot clearing, forestry mulching and brush clearing each leave your property in a different condition, and choosing between them starts with your intended use. Lot clearing typically removes most above-ground growth across a defined area. Forestry mulching processes standing vegetation and deposits the material on the surface. Brush clearing addresses a defined band of overgrowth — along a fence line, a road edge or a portion of your acreage — using cutting or mulching depending on the density and your desired result. None of these are interchangeable, and we won't treat them as though they are.
Every clearing job we quote starts with a boundary conversation. Your property line is not automatically the clearing limit, and in many cases owners want to hold back a tree line, a natural buffer or existing shade near a structure. We ask you to walk or describe the area you want touched and the area you want left alone. Lot clearing scopes are written around that defined area, not a general assumption about your whole parcel. What stays standing is documented before work begins, not decided on the fly by an equipment operator.
Forestry mulching uses a dedicated machine to grind above-ground trees, brush and woody vegetation into surface material that stays on the ground. It does not remove or extract root systems, and it is not a substitute for stump grinding or grubbing. The processed material remains on-site as ground cover unless you scope removal separately. It is a practical choice when you want an area opened up without hauling debris off the property. If your goal requires bare mineral soil, root removal or a load-bearing surface, that is a different scope — we will tell you that directly.
Compare the three clearing options →Some owners don't want the full parcel cleared — they need a specific section opened: a driveway corridor, a fence perimeter, a view line or an area that has grown into the yard over several seasons. Brush clearing addresses that kind of targeted request. Depending on stem size and density, we may cut and remove material or process it in place. We don't apply a single-method rule to every brush job. The scope defines the zone, and we agree on what counts as retained cover before the work starts, not after.
Forestry mulching processes above-ground material. It does not eliminate stumps or extract root masses below grade. If your property has large stumps or root systems that need to be addressed — because you're planning a driveway, foundation work or another use that requires a clean surface — that work is scoped separately. We will identify what is visible on your site during the estimate and note what a subsequent stump or root treatment would involve. We don't make undocumented assumptions about what the ground holds or promise results below grade without a separate scope.
Palm City is a community within Martin County. A mailing address here does not automatically define your parcel's regulatory jurisdiction, and county resources are a starting point rather than a confirmed answer for your specific lot. Martin County's planning resource is worth reviewing, but the applicable process depends on your actual parcel and current rules. We are not your permit agent, and we don't represent that a county link resolves your specific requirements. Confirm the authority for your parcel before scheduling work. We can note what questions to ask; you verify the answers with the relevant office. See Martin County clearing and southeast Florida context.
Request a property estimate →This is a hypothetical example only — not a past project or a typical condition claim. Suppose an owner has a two-acre parcel with a cleared house pad toward the road and overgrown back half they want opened for future use. They want the tree line along the rear property line retained for privacy. A scope for that situation might define a forestry mulching pass across the overgrown back acreage, a flagged boundary ten feet from the rear line marking what stays, and a separate line item if stump treatment is needed after the mulching pass. Access, retained cover and root treatment would each be documented separately before work begins.
Clearing cost depends on the size and boundary of the defined area, vegetation density, site access, how material is handled and whether any separate scope items — hauling, stump work, grading — apply to your property. The forestry mulching project minimum is $1,200; other clearing work is quoted separately. Mobilization, disposal and root treatment are not silently included. We don't publish a per-acre rate that covers every situation. The right starting point is a written estimate tied to your actual site. Questions from property owners
Yes. The scope defines both the area to be cleared and the area to remain untouched. We document the retained zone — whether it's a tree line, shade cluster or natural buffer — before any work begins. What stays standing is not a verbal understanding; it's written into the scope so the equipment operator works from a confirmed boundary, not a judgment call on the day.
Forestry mulching processes above-ground vegetation and leaves roots and processed material in place. It does not produce load-bearing or construction-ready ground. If your intended use requires grading, root removal or compacted surface preparation, those are separate scope items. We will note what's needed when we review your site, but we don't promise ground conditions we haven't separately scoped.
Yes. If part of your parcel is already in active use — a pad, a garden area, a maintained yard — the clearing boundary is written to avoid that area. We don't assume the whole parcel is available. You tell us what's in use, where it sits and how close the clearing should come, and we document that in the scope before scheduling equipment.
That depends on your specific parcel, its jurisdiction and current applicable rules. Martin County's land clearing resource is a useful starting point, but a mailing address alone doesn't confirm which rules apply. Confirm the requirements for your actual parcel with the relevant authority before work begins. We don't represent county links as parcel-specific permits or regulatory determinations.
