Open a lot
Define the work area, then separate brush, trees and below-ground work.
What stays: Keeper trees stay. Roots and debris handling must be specified; an open lot is not automatically a building pad.

We do land clearing, lot clearing, forestry mulching and brush clearing on properties in and around Fernandina Beach, Florida. Before we quote anything, we confirm what you actually want when the work is done — open ground, a mulched floor, retained trees, defined access — and put that in writing. Your parcel drives the scope. Get a clearing estimate and we will start there.
Choose the finish, not just the machine

Define the work area, then separate brush, trees and below-ground work.
What stays: Keeper trees stay. Roots and debris handling must be specified; an open lot is not automatically a building pad.
Read the lot clearing details →Grind suitable standing brush and smaller woody growth in place.
What stays: A layer of mulch and the root systems normally remain. Grubbing and haul-off are separate work.
Read the forestry mulching details →Remove selected low growth around marked trees and agreed access lines.
What stays: The chosen canopy stays. Cut material is mulched or collected according to the written scope.

Lot clearing opens the full usable envelope of a parcel: trees, brush, understory and debris are removed so the ground surface is accessible for the next step you have planned. Forestry mulching processes standing vegetation above grade and returns the material to the surface as mulch; roots stay in the ground. Brush and underbrush clearing targets the lower canopy and overgrowth while larger trees remain standing. Each result is different. Knowing which one fits your intended use is the first question we work through with you before any scope is written.
Every clearing job starts with a boundary and a decision about what stays. You may want to keep a tree line along a property edge, preserve specific trees inside the clearing zone, or open a defined corridor for access. We mark what stays before any equipment moves. What goes — brush, saplings, understory, downed material — is handled according to the method you choose. Defining the keep list is as important as defining what gets cleared, and it is the single most useful thing you can put in a written scope before work begins.
Forestry mulching processes suitable above-ground vegetation and distributes the material across the cleared area. It is not grubbing and it does not extract stumps or roots below grade. After mulching, processed material remains on the surface and roots stay where they are. If your intended use requires bare mineral soil, stump removal or below-grade root work, that is a separate scope item. We quote it separately. Do not assume mulching alone prepares ground for construction, paving or load-bearing use — those determinations belong to the people doing that follow-on work.
Compare the three clearing options →Brush and underbrush removal can be done by cutting and hauling material away or by processing it in place with mulching equipment, depending on what the job calls for. There is no single universal method or attachment that fits every parcel, and we do not rank one approach as always cheaper or always faster. What matters is the density of growth, access, your intended result and what you plan to do with the ground afterward. We look at those factors and quote the approach that fits, not the one that is easiest to describe in a sentence.
A Fernandina Beach mailing address does not automatically place your parcel inside city limits. Some properties with that address fall under Nassau County jurisdiction instead, which may mean a different set of applicable rules for tree removal, land disturbance or permit requirements. The City of Fernandina Beach Land Development Code and the Nassau County tree removal process are published starting points. Confirming your parcel's actual jurisdiction before work begins is the right first step, and it affects what approvals you may need to seek on your own.
Forestry mulching leaves roots in place. Stumps and larger-diameter wood are not automatically part of a mulching or brush clearing scope. If your plan requires stump removal, root extraction or processing of material that mulching equipment is not suited for, we scope that work separately. We do not quote grinding depth, machine capacity or daily production without knowing your specific conditions. Ask us directly what the stump and root situation means for your parcel and we will give you a straight answer about what is and is not included in the estimate.
Request a property estimate →As an example only — not a past project or typical parcel condition — imagine an owner with a wooded half-acre outside city limits who wants a cleared interior pad area with a tree buffer left on three sides and a graded access path. A written scope for that request would define the clearing boundary, identify which trees are marked to stay, specify that forestry mulching handles the interior brush and understory, note that three stumps near the pad area require separate treatment, and confirm that the access path is quoted as a distinct line item. That separation is what a written scope does for you.
Our pricing page explains how we approach quotes. The forestry mulching project minimum is $1,200; all other work is quoted individually. Mobilization, material hauling or disposal, stump and root work, grading and permit fees are not silently included in any estimate — we itemize them. Factors that affect your quote include parcel access, clearing area, material density and the method that fits your finish goal. We do not give useful numbers without seeing the scope. The right move is to contact us, describe the property and request a written clearing estimate for northeast Florida.

Questions from property owners
It can. A mailing address alone does not confirm municipal jurisdiction. If your parcel sits outside city limits, Nassau County rules apply rather than city ordinances. Check your property record or contact the relevant planning office directly before assuming which set of requirements governs tree removal or land disturbance on your lot.
No, and we will not represent it that way. Forestry mulching processes above-ground vegetation and leaves processed material on the surface with roots remaining below grade. If your project requires bare soil, stump extraction, grading or load-bearing ground preparation, those are separate scopes with separate costs. We quote them individually so there are no surprises.
Yes, and that is exactly the kind of detail a written scope is for. We identify and mark what stays before work begins. Whether you want a single specimen tree, a tree line along a boundary or a buffer strip preserved, we note it in the scope so the crew knows what the boundary is before any equipment moves.
Parcel location and size, your intended clearing result — open ground, mulched surface or brush reduction — what you want to keep, known access conditions and your next planned use. The more specific you can be about the finish you want, the more accurate the written scope and estimate will be. Contact us to start.
