Open a lot
Define the work area, then separate brush, trees and below-ground work.
What stays: Keeper trees stay. Roots and debris handling must be specified; an open lot is not automatically a building pad.

If you own a parcel in the Apopka area with an overgrown rear section, a blocked entrance or vegetation crowding an improvement, the first real question is what finish you need when the work is done. Lot clearing, forestry mulching and brush clearing each produce a different result, and the right choice depends on your next step for the property. We quote written scopes so you know what you're getting before machinery arrives.
Choose the finish, not just the machine
Compare all three below. Choose one to carry that service into your estimate request.
Define the work area, then separate brush, trees and below-ground work.
What stays: Keeper trees stay. Roots and debris handling must be specified; an open lot is not automatically a building pad.
Read the lot clearing details →Grind suitable standing brush and smaller woody growth in place.
What stays: A layer of mulch and the root systems normally remain. Grubbing and haul-off are separate work.
Read the forestry mulching details →Remove selected low growth around marked trees and agreed access lines.
What stays: The chosen canopy stays. Cut material is mulched or collected according to the written scope.

These are related services, not interchangeable names for the same job. Lot clearing removes trees, stumps and surface debris down to workable ground, typically when a structure or driveway is planned. Forestry mulching processes standing vegetation in place, leaving a layer of mulched material on the surface with roots remaining below ground — it is not a grubbing or stump-extraction method. Brush and underbrush clearing addresses lower-growing vegetation and can use cutting or mulching depending on density and what the finish needs to be.
We ask you to mark or describe the boundary of what you want cleared before we price the job. On a parcel with an overgrown rear section beside existing improvements, the line between cleared and retained matters — both for the work itself and for any tree removal requirements that may apply to your jurisdiction. Orange County maintains a tree removal application resource as a starting point, but the rules that apply to your parcel depend on its actual municipal or county jurisdiction, not its mailing address. Confirm that before work begins.
On most jobs in the Orange County area, the owner wants certain trees kept — shade trees near a home, mature specimens along a fence line, or a buffer at the property edge. We mark what stays before we plan equipment movement, because a retained tree near a clearing zone affects where machinery can turn and how material is staged. Deciding what stays is not a detail to sort out during the job; it shapes the written scope and keeps us from undoing something you wanted to keep. Tell us your intent and we work from there.
Compare the three clearing options →Even when the clearing area itself is straightforward, the route machinery takes to reach it may need its own attention. An entrance beside an existing structure, a narrow gate opening, overhead lines or soft ground between the street and the rear section can all affect how we sequence the job or whether the access corridor needs to be addressed first. We look at the full path from the road to the work zone, not just the acreage being cleared, when we put together your written scope. This is where the entry side of a property often adds scope that isn't obvious from an aerial view.
Where processed material ends up is part of the scope decision, not an afterthought. Forestry mulching leaves the processed material on the surface where it was cut; that is a feature of the method, not a cleanup gap. Lot clearing typically involves moving, piling or hauling woody debris and stumps, and those steps are scoped and priced separately — hauling and disposal are not silently included. If you need a clean surface, say so in the estimate request. If leaving mulched material in place works for your intended use, that affects which method we recommend and what the job costs.
Forestry mulching processes above-ground vegetation; it does not extract root systems or eliminate stumps below the surface. If your next use requires ground that is free of below-grade root mass — for a foundation, a driveway base or similar work — stump and root treatment needs to be scoped as a separate line item. We do not promise construction-ready ground, load-bearing capacity or engineered grading as part of a clearing quote. What we can do is tell you clearly what a given method leaves behind so you can decide whether additional work is needed before your next step.
Request a property estimate →This is an example only, not a past project or a typical result. Suppose a property owner wants the rear two acres cleared of overgrown brush and small trees for a future pasture fence, with a mature oak row along the east line retained and an existing gravel entrance kept intact. A likely written scope would address: the clearing boundary marked at the oak drip lines, the entrance corridor inspected before equipment is moved in, forestry mulching used on the interior brush, larger-diameter stems flagged for a separate stump discussion, and processed material left in place. That scope would exclude hauling, grading and permits unless added.
Clearing cost depends on acreage, vegetation density, what the finish needs to be, access conditions and what happens to removed material. For forestry mulching, our project minimum is $1,200; lot clearing and brush clearing are quoted separately based on the scope. Mobilization, hauling, disposal, root treatment, grading and permit costs are not included unless we write them in. Visit our pricing page for more detail, or request a written estimate with your parcel address and a description of the area and your intended next use. We cover the broader Central Florida region including Orange County.

Questions from property owners
Often yes. An entrance beside existing improvements, a narrow opening or soft ground between the road and the work zone can affect equipment movement and job sequencing. We look at the full working route when building a written scope, not just the target acreage. If the corridor needs work, we include that as a separate line so you see it clearly before the job starts.
No. Forestry mulching processes above-ground vegetation and leaves root systems and stump bases below grade. If your next use requires ground free of below-grade roots or stumps — for a structure, driveway or similar purpose — that work needs to be scoped and priced separately. We will tell you clearly what each method leaves behind before you commit to a scope.
Mailing address alone does not confirm whether a parcel falls inside municipal limits or is governed by Orange County directly. We recommend confirming your parcel's actual jurisdiction before work begins. Orange County provides a tree removal application resource as a starting point, but specific requirements depend on your parcel's verified location. We are not a permit authority and do not make that determination for you.
Your parcel address, an approximate description of the area to be cleared, what you want to keep, your intended next use for the land, and any access constraints you're aware of. Photos help but aren't required. The more clearly you can describe the boundary and the finish you need, the more accurate the written scope we can return to you.
